Check in and opening ceremonies

Whew, this morning I single handedly measured and approved every kayak in the competition. It was hot as hell and I was sweating like a pig.
Everything went pretty well, but its interesting trying to explain to a Brazillian ¨You´re boat is too pointy¨ when neither of us speak the same language.

I went to lunch with the team from Jersey, which is a small island near England. They are good folks, though they talk funny.

We had an opening ceremony tonight with traditional Costa Rican dancing, some cultural presentations, and opening remarks from Toca, the contest organizer.

I found out that I surf tommorrow at 11:40....which is dead low tide.....which is the WORST time for the surf. Oh well, I´ll do what I can. I compete in the Open class tommorrow.

Well I am off to get a few things done, and then I plan on getting to bed early, the competition starts at 7am......booooooooooo.......

Book Readings, Blogging, and Other Literary Pursuits
Bookblogger Laila Lalami of MoorishGirl will be reading from her new book, Hope and Other Dangerous Pursuits, tonight at 7:30 pm at Beyond Baroque in Venice.
Well, this blog and post have struck a special nerve that motivated me. Profound and interesting, and it has really got me thinking... What if many people were able to see this, would you mind? I could tell a friend or two, but only with your permission.

~ Thanks for making this blog, I'll bookmark and come again.
